What is up with vocals in Satch Boogie? I found a full band video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KOT5XJ5xZro&feature=related, and there were random vocals scattered through the song. Did the game designers get bored?

Umm... yeah, if you want.

Well, it's a song with no vocals. Why not add them in freestyle sections? You can sing what you like, after all.
